What is Crime Fiction?

It’s a detective story, murder mystery, a police novel or a police procedural.

The types of crime fiction can be cosy mysteries or hard-boiled thrillers.

They could range from something that’s fairly innocent, obviously, there are still crimes being committed, but fairly low level, or it’s not as graphic.

Or, you could go right up to the extreme, all depending on what you enjoy reading and how scared you get.

Me? I get REALLY scared.


Why is crime fiction so popular?

 I think it’s to do with that each element keeps you guessing.

 It’s fun to write as well.

We’ve got a crime fiction series and without a doubt, it’s been more enjoyable than I thought.

It’s also to do with red herrings, plot twists etc. Whenever you think you figured something out, something else totally different happens.

Really good crime fiction books will leave you gasping, open mouthed going, wow, I didn’t see that coming!
