You know that if you rank on page 1 of Amazon, that is the best place to attract buyers. And yet, it feels like a mission to even rank on page 3 and make a profit.
You are using free tools (like I was) and yes, they DO work – without a doubt. But you’re not hitting those top spots on Amazon.
The problem is with this is… EVERYBODY uses the FREE tools because they are ermm FREE!
If everybody is using them, you will be amongst everybody else.
Your product WON’T stand out.




This is where the money is.
And if it doesn’t stand out, you need to pay for it to stand out (higher CPC) which means WAY LESS PROFIT for you.
I know this because, for a long time, this was me.
There’s nothing more demoralising than knowing you have a great product for your customers and even knowing that it is way better than your competitors, but no matter what you do, you can’t get it visible because the main keywords are mega expensive and everybody else is going for the other keywords that the free tools show you,
So, what do you do?
What I did.
Change something.
You know the saying, “if you always do what you’ve always done, you will always get what you’ve always got.”
But let’s face it, you don’t have the time to tackle something really complicated.
You’re busy.
There’s nothing worse than being willing to change something and try something new and then that ‘something new’ feels like you need a degree in astrophysics to learn how to use it.
You also want something reliable – results every time, right?
I do!
This is where I discovered Helium 10.
I watched LOADS of YouTube videos on Helium 10 and I was a bit of a ‘lurker’ at first; meaning, I was observing what it did, thought it was amazing but I saw the price and thought – ahh no, I’ll leave it.
But my CPC profits were ridiculously low and my amazon bill was ridiculously high, so it was false economy to think I was ‘saving’ money by NOT investing in something new.
The crazy thing was, in most of the videos, whoever the presenter was offered 50% off the first month, so I was thinking ‘even if it’s the worst thing ever, I’m not losing hardly anything‘.

My goodness, I only wished I did it sooner – WHY DIDN’T I!!!!?

Helium 10 is an all-in-one tool for Amazon sellers.
These are ALL the tools, but you don’t even have to get them all (I have) but you can pick which ones you want.
My favourite tools are XRAY, Cerebro, Magnet, Frankenstein and Scribbles.
In this blog, we will focus on Cerebro as you came here looking at how to get awesome and cheap keywords for your products, right?
What exactly is Cerebro
Helium 10’s Cerebro tool is an ASIN-specific research tool that allows you to cross-examine a specific product to learn in-depth information and therefore allow you to strategize based on that information. The most common application of Cerebro is for studying your competitors. (Source: Helium 10)
What do I use it for in my business?
My business is primarily book publishing; fiction, non-fiction, activity books for kids and low content publishing (planners, notebooks etc.)
Before Helium 10, I released my books and just hoped and prayed they would end up on page 1 for the keyword.
Then I would advertise and basically throw my money away as I wouldn’t have a clue what would help me get on to page 1.
How I use it to rank on page 1
Now, I simply type in my main keyword onto Amazon and look at the top 10 relevant bestsellers for my niche.
I would make a note of their ASIN.
I would add these ASINS into Cerebro (you can do this via XRAY too which is easier but this blog is about Cerebro)
I would do a reverse ASIN search which basically means Cerebro will tell me for ALL the words that ASIN gets searched for/ranks for.
What does this mean for us?
We now have the secret to ranking on page 1. If we add these words to our listing ( back-end, description, title, subtitle) we will automatically stand a much better chance of ranking on page 1.
No more guesswork.
How I use Helium 10 Cerebro for cheaper CPC
I’ve learned the lesson the HARD way, for me at the moment, long-tailed keywords (keywords with 3 or more words in them) are cheaper than short-tailed keywords for your CPC campaign.
For instance: Space Activity Books for Kids as a keyword would be cheaper than Space Book.
Space Activity Books for Kids, as well as being cheaper, is also more specific and more likely to convert (if you have created an activity book) than Space Book.
Space book ‘could’ be an activity book or could be a Space book for adults so it is broader but would be exposed to more people, therefore, costing more money via CPC.
How do we find these GOLDEN long-tailed keywords?
Pretty much the same way we find our words for our listing.

My EXACT process:
- Type in my main keyword to Amazon, let’s say ‘Space activity book’.
- Pick the top 10 bestselling ‘Space Activity books’.
- Enter their ASINs into Cerebro Helium 10 and click analyse.
- I then enter the number ‘4’ in the ‘Word Count’ box (this means the keywords will be a minimum of 4 words.) – the golden nugget!
- To ensure you stand out, head for the words either with less ‘competitors’ or the least amount of ‘sponsored’ asins. This way, not only will your CPC campaign be cheaper, but you will likely be the first seen product!
- Once I have seen the keywords that are left are relevant, I will use in my listing and CPC.
- Type in my main keyword to Amazon, let’s say ‘Space activity book’ in Amazon.




2. Pick the top 10 bestselling ‘Space Activity Books’.
Of course, you can do this manually. You want the bestselling as these would have more sales which = MORE DATA (keywords).
I used Helium 10 XRAY which does this in SECONDS.




3. Enter their ASINs into Cerebro Helium 10 and click analyse.
You can enter the ASINS of these top 10 bestselling Space Activity Books manually, or click a button through XRAY and it does it for you, you will then see a screen like this:




4. I then enter the number ‘4’ in the ‘Word Count’ box (this means the keywords will be a minimum of 4 words.) – the golden nugget!




5. To ensure you stand out, head for the words either with fewer ‘competitors’ or the least amount of ‘sponsored’ asins. This way, not only will your CPC campaign be cheaper, but you will likely be the first seen product!




Obviously, not every single keyword will be relevant, so when I took out the words that wouldn’t apply.
This would be what we are left with if we easily deleted the irrelevant words.




So I would start a PPC exact campaign with these 11 words confidently knowing they would CONVERT better than just ‘Space Book’.
They are likely to be cheaper too.
6. Once I have seen the keywords that are left are relevant, I will use in my listing and CPC
Example:
For CPC:
I would use these in an EXACT campaign and bid quite high as they are SUPER RELEVANT:
solar system for kids
space books for children age 5
space books for kids
Below, I would use these for a RESEARCH campaign (BROAD and PHRASE) and include the words above for our negative words.
PHRASE & BROAD Campaign:
kids activity books age 5-8
space books for children age 5
activity books for 6+ year olds
activity books for 4+ year olds
activity books for 5 year olds
solar system for kids
space books for kids
activity books for 5+ year olds
activity books for 4 year olds
For my listing:
I used HELIUM 10 SCRIBBLES to create my listing.
When you use a word, it will delete it so you can ensure you will rank for it.




So my title would be:
Space Activity Book for Kids
Subtitle:
Learn all about the solar system with this fun activity book perfect for 4-8 year-old children. Activities include colouring, drawing, mazes and much more!
(Obviously, this isn’t perfect as it is just an example, but it will rank for many relevant keywords that we got using Helium 10 Cerebro)
